One of the characters on the show is Swiper - a fox who sneaks around and tries to steal things from Dora. (As I type this, I realize the show's concept doesn't sound particulary wholesome but Dora's daily adventures with Swiper are presented in a positive, "good triumphs over evil" kind of way.)
As soon as Swiper is spotted trying to steal something, Dora asks viewers to shout/sing along with her, "Swiper NO SWIPING!"
We have our own version of Swiper. Perhaps poor Walker knows that better than anyone.
Here's Walker, perched on the edge of his favorite bed with his favorite toy, Squirm the Worm.
As I watched him, he seemed particularly fidgety. He's put Squirm behind him - sort of like he's protecting it.
I walked over to investigate. As I came around the coffee table, this is what I saw:
It's Maggie. I shouldn't have been surprised. Squirm is Walker's favorite toy. Squirm is also Maggie's favorite toy. Walker wasn't fidgeting. He was on sentry duty.
I walked out of the room to see what would happen.
This is what I found when I came back:
Now Maggie has Squirm.
Behind me, and between whines and sighs, I swear I can hear Walker softly singing, "Swiper NO SWIPING." Poor Walker.
Poor Walker. Guess there's no question whose in charge.
ReplyDeletePoor Walker. Hope he was able to swipe it back.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of our second Greyhound, Hawk. He used to sit on his favorite toys to protect them from our fosters. We finally took pity on him and put them up during danger times. During the day while the fosters were crated, he had his stuffies, and then at night while they were out, we put them in the Stuffie Protection Program!
