Pillow Hog

Truly and Maggie love vacuuming day, not because they're clean freaks but because they both like a good game of The Prince/Princess and the Pea.

Here's how it works:  Before vacuuming, I stack up all the beds.

The winning greyhound is the one who takes his/her place on top of the stack first.

The losing greyhound walks around and around the royal bed, whining and pacing, pacing and whining.

This unpleasant behavior goes on until he/she is tired or I'm finished vacuuming - whichever comes first.

(Of course, there are many more beds available to the losing greyhound BUT they're not THESE beds.  Therefore, they don't count.)

Last time, Truly was the lucky boy.
Prince Truly

This time, Maggie beat Truly.
Princess Maggie is so comfy.
Truly tries to figure out how to get her to move.

He walks around and around - pacing and whining.

He confers with Walker.
They develop a secret plan.
Princess Maggie says the plan didn't work.

  1. Polly doesn't like the hoover, so she leaves the room and goes to her bed in my bedroom, then back in her bed in here when I am doing the bedroom.

Loved the photo of Truly conferring with Walker:)

  2. I think that's how we ended up with 30 beds in the house. Everyone wanted at least a three-high bed all the time? But the couch and human bed are even better because they are higher.

  3. Hysterical! I love. One of these days you need to consider writing a cute little book with photos. Your blog entries make me smile!

  4. LOVE THIS post. I could so see it happening in my house. No one loves a bed until I've moved it for vacuuming. Then suddenly it's new and totally cool. Even if it's only the one bed. Someone will lay in it and refuse to move when it's time to put it back.

  5. Hahahahaha!! LOVE IT! Especially the 'conferring' shot - that's priceless!

This used to happen in our house. Having certain boring physical problems, I actually have a cleaner who comes once a week, and she stacks up the beds while she vacuums. The Princess and the Pirate used to do exactly the same - the Princess usually won - but the two we have now are too worried about either the vacuum cleaner or the ... well, the cleaner .. to take advantage, so they just make themselves scarce and find other beds.

Your Prince looks just like my Princess. Gorgeous.
